Welcome to the Marin History Museum Collection
Search the Digital Collection
This Digital Search link will take you to the search portal for the Marin History Museum's digital collection, which is separate from the Marin History Museum website pages. When you click the Digital Search link you will see a new menu that will allow you to locate those elements of our Artifact, Photography, and Library & Archive collections that have been digitized.
Remember, only a fraction of our collection is presently available online - working with a museum expert can help you navigate both our hardcopy and online resources.
Tips for Searching – Here is a quick guide to the main search features of our Digital Collection that corresponds to the menu above:
The Marin History Museum’s collection contains hundreds of thousands of paper-based records and ephemera, photographs and physical artifacts. While our small staff and dedicated volunteers spend a significant amount of time scanning, photographing and cataloging the collection, only a small fraction of what is available is presently in digital form.
As a result, there are two ways to research the collection.
One is to set up an appointment to visit the Museum’s Craemer Family Collection and Research Facility and work with an expert to help you with your research. To do so, please call 415-381-1182 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Directions to our Collection Facility are located on our Contact Us page. The expert-led search process is more fully explained on our Guided Search page.
Or, you can search the digital collection, with further explanation and direct access on our Digital Search page. Clicking on the red Digital Collection link above will take you to the main search screen. The red links in subsequent Collection pages will take you to topic-specific elements of the digital collection.
Joining or giving to the Marin History Museum is a great way to make more of our extensive collection available through exhibits and in digital form. Financial support is critical to managing and expanding the collection and purchasing the capital equipment and supplies for digitizing this wealth of Marin history.
