The Marin History Museum is only as good as it’s volunteers. With so many interesting things to do, we could not possibly afford a professional staff to do it all. Besides, it is a lot more fun to have the community involved in hands-on history.
The Museum has ongoing needs for people willing to pitch in with research, writing, educational outreach, graphic design, IT support and curatorial assistance. We also need people willing to help with the tons of administrative and support work necessary to keep the collection organized, improve our community outreach, and produce our events. We can train anyone in museum skills, so don’t worry if you are not sure how you might fit in.
In addition, if you have a particular topic that intrigues you or a skill you want to utilize, we can help you do it. We are willing to design museum programs around volunteers who are able and interested in doing a “deep dive” into a project that helps us deepen our understanding of Marin’s history or improves Museum services.
