A Prohibition Afternoon

  • December 04, 2022
  • 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
  • Mac's at 19 Broadway, Fairfax

Join Marcie Miller for a fun Prohibition-style afternoon!

Dress in Prohibition-era costume - Take your photo in front of a 1930's Model A Ford - Costume props provided

Come behind the bar for a mixologist-guided lesson and make your own Prohibition-era cocktail.

Our afternoon's speakers will keep you spellbound with tales about how Prohibition changed the very idea of cocktails, speakeasies, Fairfax bootleggers, as well as everything you wanted to know about bitters.

Our special guest speaker is Jeff Burkhart (aka "The Bar Fly") on how cocktails changed from before Prohibition to after - from the glass to the liquors inside it, as well as the influence of Canadian whiskey, Scotch, and gin.

Marcie Miller divulges exciting tales of Fairfax and bootleggers during the days of Prohibition, enhanced by a slide show of historic photos.

Lawrence Batterton of King Floyd's Bitters will share insight on the why and how of bitters.

After the event ends, we segue into live music.
