Join local historian Brian K. Crawford on a history walk to spectacular Tennessee Cove. On the way, he will talk about the history of the valley and the ranchers who made it their homes. At the beach, he will relate the accounts of six ships that struck this unforgiving coast over an eighty-year span, including the steamship Tennessee that gave the cove its name. With luck, portions of the Tennessee’s steam engine can still be seen.

Space is limited, so sign up early. Non-members can join for $25.
- Parking is free, but the lot sometimes fills, so leave enough time to park. Carpooling would help.
- We should be back to the cars between noon and 1:00.
- The trail is 1.7 miles each way. On the way back it is a gentle but steady upgrade, climbing 200’. Part of it is paved, part is dirt or sand. Most kids and fit seniors could do this walk.
- Beach wheelchairs can be borrowed upon five days prior reservation at: https://www.nps.gov/goga/planyourvisit/beach-wheelchairs.htm.
- Dogs are not allowed, even on leash.
- Restrooms are available only at the trailhead.
- There is no potable water, so bring enough for your party.
- As always near the coast, bring layers. Hats and sunscreen are strongly recommended.

Local historian Brian K. Crawford is the author of Shipwrecks of Marin, which describes
more than four hundred known wrecks in Marin County.
